About Me
- Randall Parker
- I am a Professor of Economics at East Carolina University in Greenville, NC. My research focuses on macroeconomics and economic history in general and the economics of the Great Depression in particular. I have authored two books, Reflections on the Great Depression and The Economics of the Great Depression: A Twenty-First Century Look Back at the Economics of the Interwar Era and edited The Seminal Works of the Great Depression. I am currently working on my fourth book Interwar Historical Antecedents of Modern Inflation Targeting and I am the co-editor (with Robert Whaples) of The Handbook of Major Events in Economic History and The Handbook of Modern Economic History. I have also traveled the country giving speeches on the state of the macroeconomy and other economic issues to many trade and business associations. When I am not thinking about the economy I am either chasing ducks, handicapping horses or arranging a fine dining experience. Lastly, the opinions expressed on this blog are mine alone and do not reflect upon East Carolina University in any way or manner, in whole or in part, now and forever more under the canopy of heaven.

Ever heard of the concept of an Agent Provocateur Divider? Listen, these protests can literally have anyone, ANYONE, join them. I have seen Socialists, Communists, Anarchists, Libertarians, Democrats, and Republicans at these protests. Someone showing up that is anti-semetic has no, I repeat, NO reflection as to the views of everyone else. One guy at the Greenville Protest thinks the root of the economic crisis is the Federal Reserve's existence, and I believe it is Capitalism. There is no centralized structure to these protests, but we are trying out best at decentralized organization.
Capitalism is to blame for the economic crisis? I'm completely fine with that considering the alternatives........
"Decentralized organization" must be code for cluster-f**k. Doesn't socialism require centralization?
Ok, look. I'm gonna be 52 here before long and have had two Christian epiphanies in the last 18 months. Plus this is a Bash-Free blog. I can't go kicking Andrew around. Remember, he is our guest and treat him with respect. Now, if anyone wants to show Andrew just how terribly wrong he is, please do so politely. And don't forget God takes care of fools and drunks so say what you want...Andrew and I are protected.
And Andrew, keep it clean and respectful and I promise I won't censor you.
